Every property is different, and every landlord pays attention to different things. One wants to know at every inspection whether the smoke detector works, another wants to record the condition of the kitchen worktop or note when the boiler was last serviced. That is why there is a new feature in Kamerinspectie: custom fields. You add your own questions to the report, and from that moment on they automatically appear in every inspection.
What are custom fields?
Custom fields are questions you create yourself, alongside the standard parts of the report. You set them up once via the 'Custom fields' page in your account, and after that they are automatically ready in every new report. No fixed checklist you are forced into — you decide what gets asked.
Three types of questions
When creating a field, you choose from three types:
- Textarea — an open question with room for a written answer. For example: "Notes about the internet connection" or "Arrangements regarding the key safe".
- Yes/no question — a question you answer with a single tap. For example: "Is there a smoke detector present?" or "Was the property handed over smoke-free?"
- Dropdown — a question with your own answer options. For example "Condition of the paintwork" with the options Good, Fair and Poor.
With a dropdown, you decide which options there are — and how many.
General or per room
For every question, you choose where it belongs:
- General — the question appears once per report, on the Additional tab. Useful for questions about the property as a whole, such as "Has the energy label been discussed with the tenant?"
- Per room type — the question belongs to one type of room and appears on the Room condition tab. Say you create the question "Condition of the worktop" for the kitchen. You will then see that question for every kitchen in the report. The same way, you can ask about mould in every bathroom, or about the planting in every garden.
Automatically in the PDF
Answered questions automatically appear in the right place in the report: general questions in their own section, room questions with the room they belong to. They also show up in the overview on the signing page, so tenant and landlord can see exactly what has been recorded before they sign.
Questions you have not answered simply stay out of the PDF. So you do not have to fill in everything — only what is relevant for this inspection.
Missing a question during the inspection?
Standing in the property and thinking of a question you have not created yet? No problem. You add the field right away and continue where you left off. The new question is immediately available in the report you are working on.
Final reports stay intact
One important detail: if you change or delete a field later, only draft reports are updated. Reports that have already been finalised and signed stay exactly as they were — including the questions and answers from that moment. What has been recorded and signed, stays recorded.
A few ideas to get started
- "Is there a smoke detector present and tested?" (yes/no, per bedroom or general)
- "Condition of the worktop and cupboards" (dropdown, for the kitchen)
- "Date of last boiler service" (textarea, general)
- "Was the garden handed over well-maintained?" (yes/no, for the garden)
- "Notes about waste and bins" (textarea, general)
How to get started
Go to 'Custom fields' in your account, click 'Add field' and create your first question. From the next report onwards, the question is automatically there — and in every inspection after that. Set it up once, never forget it again.
