What is different about an apartment?

With an apartment the tenant rents part of a larger building. Shared areas such as the stairwell and lift usually fall under the owners' association (VvE in Dutch) and do not belong in your inspection report. What does matter: everything that belongs to the apartment itself, even if it is outside the front door.

Think of the storage room, the balcony, a parking space and the access devices for the main entrance and garage. Many apartments are connected to collective or district heating, with a heat meter or heat cost allocators. In Kamerinspectie you set up those spaces once for the property and record all meters, including heat.
